Where to buy persimmon soap in Norway: pharmacies, shops and online

Heard about Japanese persimmon soap, also called kaki soap, and wondering where to buy it in Norway? In Norwegian it is usually searched for as "persimmon såpe" or "kaki såpe". Persimmon soap is used against nonenal, the oily compound linked to the stale smell some people notice on their skin and clothes from their 40s onwards. This guide covers what we found at Norwegian pharmacies and beauty shops, what to watch for online, and how to check that a bar really contains persimmon.

How we checked: on 7 October 2026 we searched each retailer's website for "persimmon soap", "kaki soap", "persimonsåpe", "kakisåpe" and "nonenal såpe". We did not visit any shops, and ranges change, so ask in your local shop if you want to be sure.

Pharmacies: Vitusapotek, Apotek 1, Boots and Farmasiet

• Vitusapotek: the searches brought up ordinary soaps and hand washes. "Persimonsåpe" and "persimmon" gave no results.
• Apotek 1: no persimmon soap. A search for "persimmon" found only toothpaste, including one flavoured with gin and tonic and persimmon, and "persimonsåpe" gave no results.
• Farmasiet: "persimmon soap", "kaki soap" and "nonenal såpe" gave no results, and the other searches showed products unrelated to persimmon soap.
• Boots apotek: we could not open the Boots website, so we could not check its range there. A web search limited to boots.no did not turn up a persimmon soap.

Persimmon soap does not seem to be in the pharmacies' online ranges yet. At the counter, ask for a soap with persimmon extract (Diospyros kaki) on the ingredient list.

Vita, Kicks, Normal and Lyko

• Vita: "persimmon soap", "persimonsåpe" and "nonenal såpe" gave no results. Other searches found things like a scented candle and a hair mask, but no persimmon soap.
• Kicks: none of our five searches gave any results. "Persimmon" on its own found a few make-up, skincare, hair and fragrance products, but no soap.
• Normal: Normal's Norwegian website has no online shop, so we could not search its range online. Ask in your nearest store.
• Lyko: the searches returned lots of ordinary soaps. "Persimmon" found candles, a diffuser, a hand lotion and a liquid hand wash from a fragrance range with persimmon in its name, plus lip tints. That hand wash is part of a scented range, not the kind of persimmon soap this guide is about.

Amazon and other online shops

On 7 October, Amazon.se showed 783 results for "persimmon soap" and Amazon.de showed 17. Not every listing can be delivered to Norway, so check before you order. Also keep in mind:

• Not every "persimmon soap" contains persimmon. Some are only persimmon-scented. Look for Diospyros kaki in the ingredient list.
• Check who sells and ships it. Delivery times, costs and returns vary from seller to seller.
• Be wary of big promises. A soap is a cosmetic. Claims that it removes odour completely, or treats anything, are a warning sign.
